Behind the Craft How a JOVI Piece Is Made in Jaipur

Where It All Began

JOVI started in 2017 in Jaipur. This city is special because design is a part of everyday life. You can see prints and patterns on walls, fabrics, streets, and homes. These designs have been passed down through generations. JOVI comes from this culture of craft. We didn't start with a trend. We wanted to make clothing that feels personal. Our clothes are made slowly. With care by the people who make them. Come, let’s quickly go through the short and beautiful story of creating handcrafted Indian ethnic wear in Jaipur from start to finish.

Nothing Exists Before You Choose It

At JOVI we don't make a piece and then wait for someone to buy it.

Everything starts when you place an order. That's what made-to-order means to us. Your decision is the start. From that moment your piece starts to take shape. It goes through hands in Jaipur. We don't rush anything. We make it when its needed.

The Fabric That Starts It All

Before anything else, there is fabric. We have always been drawn to mulmul. It is very soft, airy, and feels almost weightless and comfortable when worn. It does not try to be loud and heavy, but it becomes noticeable in the way it moves with you.

It sits at the heart of what we create because it feels honest and easy. Every fabric is washed and prepared before the process begins. This step helps it settle, absorb colour better, and fall naturally when stitched. It is a quiet beginning, but an important one.

Block Printing - Where the Fabric Starts to Speak

Once the fabric's ready it goes into block printing.

We use blocks that are hand-carved with patterns. Each block is dipped in colour. Pressed onto the fabric by hand. There's no machine to guide it. It depends on the artisan's eye and experience.

The block print is built slowly. For-colour designs, we print in layers. We let it dry between each step. Sometimes the print shifts a bit. These small differences are not mistakes. They make each piece feel alive.

Embroidery - Quiet Work That Takes Time

After printing, the fabric goes into embroidery.

This is one of the detailed parts. We choose threads that sit gently with the print. Then begins the work of hand embroidery with our expert embroidery queen Indrakala ji. Each stitch is placed individually. It is steady, repetitive work that requires focus and patience.

What looks like a small design on the final garment can actually take many hours to complete. It is not something that can be rushed or replaced with speed. It only comes from time and experience.

Cutting and Stitching - Made One Piece at a Time

Once the fabric is ready, it is cut and stitched.

Not in bulk. Not in batches. Each garment is made individually after your order comes in. This changes the way it is handled. The focus is not on quantity, but on how the piece will actually feel when worn.

The shape is kept easy, the fall is considered, and the stitching is done to allow movement rather than restrict it. It is designed to become part of your everyday life without requiring any adjustment or effort.

Finishing

Before it reaches you it goes through a strict lovey-dovey quality check.

Threads are trimmed. Seams are reviewed. The garment is checked to make sure everything feels right. This stage is about making sure it feels complete. Then is it carefully packed and sent out for you.

Why It Takes 15 to 20 Days

A JOVI piece takes 15 to 20 days to complete.

Not because its delayed. Every step needs its time. The printing needs to dry. Embroidery can't be rushed. Stitching happens after your order. Each stage follows the other naturally. There's no shortcut. We don't try to create one as well. Because the process is not about speed. It is about allowing things to be made properly, from start to finish.

What You Finally Receive

What you get is not a garment. It carries the moment you chose it. It carries the time and hands it passed through in Jaipur. It has variations and careful finishing. It may look simple but it holds a very beautiful and slow process that took time and love of our artisans. That's what makes it special.
